Condolence Notice — Dr. John (Ed) Andrews

The University of Lethbridge extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr. John (Ed) Andrews, who passed away on Saturday, June 16 at the age of 96.

He was an active community member who belonged to many organizations, including being a member of the U of L Senate from 1975 to 1981 and a member of the U of L Board of Governors from 1979 to 1982.

Originally from Manitoba, Andrews studied plant breeding, genetics and plant pathology and first came to Lethbridge in 1951 to work as a research scientist at the Lethbridge Research Station. He later became director of the research station in Brandon, Manitoba and the research station in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He returned to Lethbridge in 1970 as the director of the Lethbridge Research Station. Andrews enjoyed a long career with Agriculture Canada, retiring in 1987.
