Condolence Notice — Dr. Harold Melvin (Mel) Fisher

The University of Lethbridge extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr. H. Mel Fisher, who passed away in Red Deer on Wednesday, April 4 at the age of 80.

Fisher, who was born in Lacombe, obtained a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and a master of education and doctorate from Oregon State University. He taught in various Alberta locations before coming to Lethbridge. He joined the U of L as an associate professor in the Faculty of Education in 1983 and remained in that position until his retirement in 1994. He served on the University Senate as the General Faculties Council representative from 1986 to 1990.

An obituary can be found online at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel.  A memorial service has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 11 at 1 p.m. at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel in Lacombe. The U of L will lower its flag on Wednesday in honour of Fisher.
