The University of Lethbridge extends its sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Doreen Kooy (BEd ’88), who unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, Jan. 26.

Kooy, 62, was the U of L’s Calgary Co-op Coordinator with the Dhillon School of Business (DSB). She worked in Edmonton for a number of years teaching, career advising and consulting before she joined the then-Faculty of Management Co-operative Education Program at the Calgary campus in 2013.

“Doreen’s passion was her work with and for the students, whether it was helping them discover their strengths, develop their resumes or guide them in their career decisions and co-op work terms,” says Heather Hacior, manager of DSB Co-operative Education. “She touched so many lives, including students, employers and her U of L colleagues. She will be dearly missed.”

A celebration of life has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church located at 260 McGill Blvd. W. in Lethbridge. In honour of Kooy, the U of L will lower its flag.

An obituary is available online at Salmon and Sons.
