The University of Lethbridge extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Andy Black Water, who passed away recently at the age of 78.

Black Water helped advise the University during the development of a 2012 report to the President that included important recommendations, among them the establishment of a Niitsitapi gathering place and the Iniskim Education Committee. He later became the Elder representative on that committee, which guides the University in Indigenous matters. Black Water also taught in the Faculty of Education for a summer session in 2011. A full obituary can be found online at Eden's Funeral Home.

A wake service has been scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday, May 14 and a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, both at Senator Gladstone Hall on the Blood Reserve. The U of L will lower its flag Tuesday in honour of Black Water.
