The University of Lethbridge will implement a standard campus-wide speed limit beginning in 2020.

Starting on January 2, 2020, motorists will adhere to a 30 km/h limit on campus. University crews will begin installing signs in late December in preparation for the change.

The need for a speed limit reflects institutional growth over the past decade (including record enrollment growth) and considers the traffic generated from the many community outreach activities and partnerships with which the University is involved. The safety of our pedestrian traffic is paramount.

Accessibility to the U of L campus is important in ensuring the University is able to meet many of its key directions that are outlined in its strategic plan including promoting access to quality affordable post secondary education, building relationships with internal and external community and enhancing the sustainability of the institution.

The University will communicate the change to its internal and external communities throughout December in advance of the implementation date.
