Call for Applications: Board of Governors Research Chair program

On behalf of the Board of Governors of the University of Lethbridge, the Office of the Vice-President (Research) is pleased to announce a call for applications for the Board of Governors Research Chair (BoGRC) program.

In this call, there are up to 6 BoGRC positions available: up to three at the Tier I level and up to three at the Tier II level. 

1. Tier I BoGRC competition

Tenured Full Professors with a distinguished record of internationally-recognized scholarly or creative activity, as well as a strong record of leadership in their field are invited to apply.  Appointments will be made for a five-year term effective July 1, 2020, and are eligible for a one-time reappointment.

In this call, we are accepting applications from Full professors whose program of research:

*in an effort to achieve diversity and equity with the Tier I appointments, in this competition, we are not accepting applications from researchers whose research falls within CIHR’s Themes 1 (Biomedical Research) and 2 (Clinical Research). 

2. Tier II BoGRC competition

Tenured or Tenure-track faculty members at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with demonstrated excellence in scholarly or creative activity and outstanding leadership potential are invited to apply.  Applicants should be no more than 10 years from the conferral of their PhD or equivalent qualification.  Appointments will be made for a four-year term effective July 1, 2020. Appointments are nonrenewable.

In this call, we are accepting applications from Assistant or Associate Professors from all disciplines.

 Expectations

Board of Governors Research Chairs will play a leadership role in promoting the overall development of research and creative activity at the University of Lethbridge, beyond their personal research programs.  Tier I BoGRC’s will be expected to be active mentors and play a leadership role in their field of expertise and stimulate growth in the research enterprise.  Tier II BoGRCs should contribute and participate in similar activities to build their leadership skills.  All BoGRCs should be dedicated to the training of the next generation of highly qualified professionals.

 

Details on eligibility, entitlements, application requirements and the adjudication process are available on the Vice-President (Research) website.  Applications should be submitted electronically, with the subject “BoGRC Nomination” to Penny Pickles using ORIS@uleth.ca  Please note the following deadlines:

September 15:     Deadline to advise ORIS of your intent to apply.  This will help us start some aspects of the review process, namely aligning the expertise of the review committee with the applicant pool.  Please send an email to oris@uleth.ca 

September 30:     Application deadline.

October 15:          Letters of support due.

Applications that are incomplete after October 15 will be withdrawn from the competition.
