It’s the 50th anniversary of the University of Lethbridge and to honour 50 years of academics, you will be racing through time and honouring the fitness crazes of the decades! Early bird registration will be open April 21!
Each week, time travelers can earn points by logging activities such as biking, walking, and playing sports for example. Points are accumulated throughout any physical activity. Each step you take all day, every day counts towards your points accumulating, however the goal is to increase your step count. Every 10,000 steps you take will get you closer to the goal of 50,000 points for the week. Additionally, you can earn unique badges for completing health challenges that will help earn you bonus points.
Our journey through time will take us through the following weekly themes:
- May 1 - 7 - Week 1- The 1990's Tae Bo
- May 8 - 14 - Week 2- The 1980's Aerobics
- May 15 - 21 - Week 3- The 1970's Weight Lifting
- May 22 - 28 - Week 4 – The 1960's Yoga & Meditation
- May 29 - June 4 - Week 5 – The 1950's Dance
- June 5 - 11 - Week 6 – The 1940's Boot camp
Heart Smart is an initiative to encourage wellness and increased physical activity among staff and faculty at the University of Lethbridge. You can count the steps from your car in the parking lot to your office. The Physical Activity Guidelines indicate that adults should accumulate at least 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous aerobic physical activity per week in bouts of 10 minutes or more (including brisk walking!) So let’s get moving!
