Asbestos removal planned for University Hall Section E

This notice is from the archives of The Notice Board. Information contained in this notice was accurate at the time of publication but may no longer be so.

Between May 15 and June 20, 2015, contractors will be performing asbestos removal in University Hall section E levels 1, 2 and 3 residence.

A containment entrance will be set up on each level as this work progresses. During this time, there will be no admittance into any of these areas and the E section elevator will not be accessible. The D section elevator will remain functional. This work is being completed during the summer to restore water damaged areas caused by a broken water line on April 17, 2015.

This is a normal procedure for any renovation project executed involving asbestos abatement. Removal will be completed consistent with the requirements of the Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Code, and performed by trained and certified workers pursuant to the required code of practice to ensure that there is no health risk to students, staff, faculty, the general public or construction workers. Air monitoring will be completed by an independent environmental technologist and the reports will be posted on the Risk and Safety Services website.

We apologize for any inconveniences and appreciate your cooperation during this time.
