The first All Girls STEM Day was a great success. With the aim of empowering, educating, and exciting the future female STEM leaders, the All Girls STEM Day provided the opportunity for middle school girls to explore the different aspects of science and technology through activities, demos and discussions.

Beginning their day at the Galt Museum & Archives, participants learned from women from the City of Lethbridge about the importance of city planning and infrastructure, and the importance of waste management within the city. During the lunch break, circuit-building skills were developed as the girls focused on building wearable technology. Later in the day, the group moved to the University of Lethbridge and were treated to demos and activities from various science departments.

This event was organized by Destination Exploration, in collaboration with the City of Lethbridge and the Lethbridge School District. It is one of the many ways that the University of Lethbridge engages in youth science outreach and promotes science, technology, engineering and mathematics to young women throughout the community.
