The Faculty of Health Sciences will be offering a new topics course in Fall 2018:

ABHL 3850 Indigenous Health Leadership
Instructor: Katherine Chubbs RN, BN, MHS, CHE, DBA (in progress)

Wednesdays, 6:00 - 8:50 p.m.

Taught by an experienced senior health leader, this course will examine best practices in health leadership and apply them to working with or in the context of Indigenous communities and organizations. Students will acquire a broad understanding of the challenges facing health leaders and will develop skills to strengthen their health leadership performance.

Topics will include:

· Understanding leadership

· Leadership styles

· Power in the leadership context

· Ethics in health care

· Self-development

· Engagement

· Building teams

· Strategic planning

· LEADS competencies

· Change management

· Performance management

· Creating a multicultural workforce

 

This course is also offered at the graduate level as ABHL 5850 Indigenous Health Leadership.
