Dear Colleagues,

We are writing to advise you of structural changes that will be taking place within some senior administrative positions of the University of Lethbridge. With the current vacancies in the continuing positions of the Associate Vice-President (Research) (AVPR) and the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies (DSGS), we have determined that the responsibilities of these positions can be merged into a single role that provides the focused leadership for the School of Graduate Studies, the Office of Post-Doctoral Affairs (PDF) as well as the Office of Research and Innovation Services.

Thanks to the efforts of the most recent incumbents of these positions, and the close collaboration that has developed between the offices of the Provost and the Vice-President (Research), we are confident that a single position will not only reduce the size of administration of the University, but will also enable us to move forward on the Strategic Research Plan and the Comprehensive Institutional Plan. Most importantly, it will ensure seamless support for graduate and PDF scholarship at the University of Lethbridge.

A search for the new AVPR/DSGS position will be initiated soon. In the interim, Dr. Helen Kelley will continue to serve as the Interim Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, and Dr. Jennifer Copeland will continue to serve as the Interim Vice-President (Research).

Thank you.

Dr. Andrew Hakin, Provost and Vice-President (Academic)

Dr. Erasmus Okine, Vice-President (Research)
