The following is an update from Dr. Chris Nicol, University Librarian

The momentum around the Banner Revitalization project is gathering steam. Following a recommendation in March, its approach was adjusted and Chris Nicol, University Librarian, was appointed by Provost and Vice-President Academic Andy Hakin to oversee the project. He will provide regular updates to the Provost, the project teams and to the University community.

“The heavy lifting related to revising processes and removing customizations is well underway.”

“The new path will result in several elements of the program proceeding in parallel. This will have a number of advantages, one of which is that testing efforts will be consolidated, reducing the overall effort,” Nicol says. “It will also enable the University to continue to operate as usual, as well as to consider new functions and technologies earlier than originally anticipated. The first year of the three-year project has been spent laying the groundwork, refining the plan elements, as well as identifying technical, procedural, and policy-related issues. The heavy lifting related to revising processes and removing customizations is well underway,” he adds.
