Hugo is an orphan who lives in the walls of a Paris train station. When he goes in search of the key that he needs to wind up the mechanical automaton that is his only connection to his parents, he encounters a mysterious shopkeeper who takes him on a journey that leads him back to the invention of the movies.

Winner of Academy Awards for Best Achievement in Cinematography, Visual Effects, and Art Direction; Golden Globe for Best Director.
