The ULSU, LPIRG, and SACPA are looking for undergraduate students to participate in the upcoming public speaking competition on the theme of CANADIAN VALUES. You can approach the topic any way you choose, however, each round will pose a different question related to the overarching theme.

Round 1: What are Canadian values?Round 2: How are social movements evolving?Round 3: Is democracy working?

PowerPoints and visual aides are not to be included as this is a SPEAKING competition.

A collection of three judges (faculty, student, and community member) will judge your speech from a grading rubric and you will be awarded your points based on that. You will receive this rubric before the competition and your results after each round and depending on the number of contestants and how well you have done, will depend whether you move onto the next round or not.

First place will receive $1000, second place $500, and 3rd and 4th place will receive $250 each.

To submit your name for competition please submit a brief abstract on what you plan on discussing to su.academic@uleth.ca or the Student Union front desk, with the title "Student Speaker Challenge Submission". Please also be sure to include your full name, student ID, year of study, major, and a contact phone number.
