'The Publication Process: A Personal Observation' Burns Endowment Fund Speaker: Dr. Felix Tan

This event is from the archives of The Notice Board. The event has already taken place and the information contained in this post may no longer be relevant or accurate.

As scholars, we contribute to the discipline as both authors and reviewers of scholarly manuscripts.  Most of us have had submissions of papers rejected and wondered how the reviewers could have failed to understand, or see the merit in, the seemingly simple and valuable messages in our papers: Equally, most of us have reviewed what we thought is poor quality research. In this informal session, Dr. Tan will provide a personal take on the publication process from his experience as a journal editor. The session will discuss the preparation of journal submissions, judging the quality of submissions and how to respond to reviews - with the view of highlighting areas authors tend not to pay sufficient attention to. The audience will be encouraged to also share their own experience as authors and reviewers.
