Celebrating the written word and student success

The University of Lethbridge’s Faculties of Fine Arts, and Arts & Science are pleased to announce this year’s winners of the annual Plays and Prose competition.

Congratulations to first place Play Right winner, Madeline Smith (Drama), for her submission, “Carnaticum,” and first place Prose winner, Elizabeth Pedersen (BSc/Ed), for her piece entitled “Cerebral Supernova.”

Members of the public are invited to celebrate with the competition winners Thursday, March 8 at 5 pm in the University Theatre, where they can meet the writers, enjoy refreshments, and of course, take in live readings of the first place entries.

Congratulations to Megan Couch and Jake Rose, who won second and third place (respectively) in the Play Right portion of the competition, and will also receive their awards Thursday evening.

The Plays and Prose competition offers a unique opportunity to any student with a passion for writing and story telling to hone his/her craft through the adjudication process. Winners of the competition receive scholarships up to $1,500 to put towards tuition and program expenses.

These awards are generously supported by U of L alumnus, Terry Whitehead.
