Paywall: The Business of Scholarship

This event is from the archives of The Notice Board. The event has already taken place and the information contained in this post may no longer be relevant or accurate.

Join us for a screening of selected clips from Paywall: The Business of Scholarship that raise various questions such as the problems created by paywalls to scholarly information for citizens in general, for libraries, for researchers, and for scholarship itself; the experiences of individuals in dealing with paywall barriers to needed information; the deficiencies of our current scholarly communication system that might be alleviated by OA; some success stories of paywalled journals that have been converted to OA; some impediments to converting paywalled journals to OA; and any concerns or downsides of OA in general. A lively panel discussion will respond to these and other issues raised by the film and the audience.
