Mezzo-soprano, Kristina Alexander, will present a recital of music featuring Handel, Mozart, Brahms, and Libby Larsen.

A native of Ottawa, Ontario, mezzo-soprano Kristina Alexander completed her studies at the University of Lethbridge, University of Ottawa, and did an Advanced Certificate in Performance from the University of Toronto. She is currently completing her Doctoral studies at the University of Toronto studying with Daniel Taylor.

Kristina has been able to work under some of our countries finest choral conductors and has sung with the National Youth Choir of Canada (2008, 2010), Carnegie Hall Festival Chorus (2012), Opera Chorus Canada (2015, 2016), and the JUNO nominated Canadian Chamber Choir and Theatre of Early Music. A versatile performer, Kristina has had the opportunity to perform roles including Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte, The Neighbour in Stravinsky’s Mavra, and the Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneaus with both the Theatre of Early Music and Taflemusik Summer Baroque Institute, as well as Musical Theatre Review concerts with orchestra performing the repertoire of Fantine (Les Miserables) among others. Kristina has been a chorus member with both Opera Lyra Ottawa and the Canadian Opera Company. Most recently, Kristina was featured as the alto soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass with Vocal Alchemy at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton, was also selected for a residency at the International Performing Arts Institute in Germany as a Teaching Fellow (2018), and has adjudicated and done workshops throughout Canada. Kristina is also a founding member of a professional concert series called the Peace Region Music Series, producing and performing in professional level chamber music concerts throughout the city of Grande Prairie.

Currently Instructor of Voice and Choir at Grande Prairie Regional College, Kristina hopes to continue growing as a performer and educator.
