Distribution of Values of L-functions over Function Fields.
Let q be a prime power that is congruent to 1 modulo 4, and let F_q be the finite field with q elements. Let 1/2 < s < 1 be fixed. We consider D a monic square-free polynomial in F_q[T] and chi_D the Kronecker symbol associated with D. In this talk, we will discuss the distribution of large values of log L(s,chi_D) with D varying over monic square-free polynomials with degree n tending to infinity. We will highlight the expected similarities to the situation over quadratic extensions of the rational numbers as well as the surprising differences.
