"It's just not something we talk about often." Conversations about the role of religious literacy in teacher education
Guest lecturer: Erin Reid
Day/Date: Monday, November 4, 2019
Time: 3 to 4:30 p.m.
Location: D-631

How religiously literate are you? How religiously literate should you be? How religiously literate should teachers be? If you’re like some of the participants in my doctoral research about the role of religious literacy in teacher education, you may not feel particularly knowledgeable about religion. For many educators, there’s a sense that religion just doesn’t belong in the classroom. However, scholars such as Diane Moore (2014) argue that it has never been more important for all of us -- and especially for educators -- to develop a robust religious literacy. In this talk, I’ll introduce my research project, share some initial findings, and invite you to explore these questions together!

All welcome!
