Looking for a great getaway to help you live a healthier lifestyle? While we can’t promise paradise, we can guarantee some excitement with our new and improved Bee Amazing Race!

This summer all eyes are on Rio di Janeiro as the world’s top athletes compete in the summer Olympics XXXI!

This year’s Heart Smart Challenge is to inspire you to "walk or run" to Rio to cheer on the athletes! It's a long journey, 10,574km via air but about 16,000 via car and foot. In this challenge every 10,000 steps will equal 400km.

BEE Amazing Race is designed to take you on an inspiring journey through North and South America until you hit the sunny beaches of Rio. Each week you will travel about 2700 km and you'll be inspired by the locale.

At each weekly stop, travelers can earn points by logging aerobic activities such as biking, walking, and playing basketball for example. Points are accumulated throughout any physical activity. Each step you take all day, every day counts towards your points accumulating, however the goal is to increase your step count. Every 10,000 steps you take will get you 400km closer to Rio and will earn you a medal and 50,000 points.  Additionally, you can earn unique badges for completing health challenges that will help earn you bonus points.

What are Beat Points?

  • Beat Points are the Heart Smart Currency that allows participants to compete head to head with others regardless of the activity you choose.

How are Beat Points Calculated?

  • Points are calculated based on estimated numbers of calories that are burned during an activity that you participate in. The calculations are based from the amount of time a participant exercises multiplied by the level of intensity an activity is. Essentially, the more vigorous an activity you choose, the higher amount of Beat Points will be over the same time period as a lighter intensity activity.
  • Example: 15 minutes of running will earn higher points when compared against 15 minutes of walking.

This is going to be the kind of trip you don’t want to miss! Our Bee Amazing Race departure date is May 2, 2016 and will end June 12, 2016.  Make your reservation today by following the directions on http://heartsmart.ulethbridge.ca/welcome Early Bird bookings can be taken as of April 25.
