Introduction to Knowledge Translation (KT) Workshop

This event is comprised of an Open Lecture and a KT Workshop limited to the first 11 registrants.

Open Lecture

This lecture will provide an introduction to Knowledge Translation (KT).  Key topics include understanding KT and its role in today’s health research environment, KT strategies, and a comparison of end-of-grant KT versus integrated KT.

KT Workshop

Attendees who remain for the second leaning component will participate in a hands-on workshop to further extend their understanding of KT.  Using their own research or grant proposal, attendees will develop their skills by applying KT concepts to their own work.  Development of KT Plans will be supported by one-on-one and small group work.

The workshop will be presented by Dr. Heather Hanson (Alberta Health Services). Heather Hanson, PhD, is a gerontological researcher and Assistant Scientific Director with the Seniors Health Strategic Clinical Network.  She frequently works in integrated knowledge translation teams to conduct applied health research.  Her interest is mobility among older adults, including the maintenance of mobility through physical activity, health promotion decision-making, and the prevention of falls. In her role as ASD, she supports the conduct of research aligned with the SCN and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration in health and aging research across the province.
