Drama Visiting Artist Talk: Tanja Faylene Woloshen

Tanja Faylene Woloshen is a contemporary dance artist and educator. Her dance works, and creative collaborations, have given her opportunities to perform across Canada, USA, and Europe. Last season, she was the Choreographer for Theatre Projects Manitoba’s World Premiere of “A Short History of Crazy Bone” (2018)- which garnered her a Winnipeg Theatre Award Nomination. She also debuted her newest work “Holy Wild” (2017). She is also on faculty with U Winnipeg, Prairie Theatre Exchange, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Manitoba Theatre for Young People, and WHEAT (Winnipeg Holistic Expressive Arts Therapy Institute).

Tanja has studied with many Butoh masters: Vangeline (NYC), GooSayTen (Itto Morita), Joan Laage, Yoshito Ohno, Kokoro (Jay Hirabayashi), Minako Seki, Denise Fujiwara, Su-En, Yukio Waguri, Lori Otani, and Cheryl Flaharty. She continues to study, practice, and share the cosmos of this form. She has an MFA in Performance Studies from UBC-Okanagan.

While on-campus, Tanja Faylene Woloshen is facilitating a 2-day experiential workshop called, "Butoh Dance for the Actor with Tanja Faylene Woloshen."  For more information and to register for the workshop.
