Climate Change, Climate Justice, and Eco-Grief Workshop

This event is from the archives of The Notice Board. The event has already taken place and the information contained in this post may no longer be relevant or accurate.

Speakers:

Kathryn Harrison, a leading multidisciplinary climate researcher and communications leader from UBC.

Gwendolyn Blue, a leading climate researcher and professor from the University of Calgary.

Diandra Bruised-Head, Kainai Climate Change Coordinator.

William Singer, a member and activist with KEPA.

Kathleen Sheppard, Representative from Environment Lethbridge.

Heather Rowland, from the U of L Counselling and Career Services, to talk about managing mental health while being engaged in activism.

We wish to highlight the importance of local, grass-roots activism and the need to acknowledge the impacts of climate change on marginalized communities. This includes making space for Indigenous perspectives on climate change and justice, as Indigenous activists have long been the first voices to speak out in protection of the land and are too often silenced.

This event is presented in collaboration with Environment Lethbridge, the Kainai Ecosystem Protection Association (KEPA), U of L Counselling and Career Services, Lethbridge Public Interest Research Group and the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Student's Association (FNMISA).

This even is free of change, and will be held on November 21, 2019 in the Student Union Ballrooms starting at 6 p.m. We expect to go until 8 p.m. but this time might be lengthened as questions and discussions are a core part of this experience. Light refreshments will be provided. This event is open to students and community members alike.
