With hummable tunes and a fast-paced, satirical plot, The Beggar’s Opera became an overnight sensation in 1728 and has held the stage for nearly 300 years. It held the mirror up to ordinary people and helped point the way to today’s musical comedies. Fully staged, with period costumes, and sung in the original English by the U of L Opera Workshop.
