Art NOW presents Nicholas Wade
Thinking is material: the embrace of process and the indifferent attitude of material
Noon, October 21, 2019
University Recital Hall
Free admission, everyone welcome!

In art, process with materials is always revealing things, often surprising and revelatory. There are many predictable results of planned action and also, many accidents, unanticipated, quirks of the hand, the tool, the thought, the material, the moment. Results of such moments often overcome the artist who believed she/he had a planned outcome that comes from having a skill set and accumulated experience with a material and knowledge of other artists accomplishments.

One is mostly driven by some form of intention. A twentieth century artist “M.D.” said that “the personal art coefficient is determined by the relationship between the Intended butunexpressed and the unintentionally expressed.

Add to this- for myself, there is a relation between what I think I am doing and what I am doing when I am not thinking.
