ART NOW - Roy Caussy Speaks October 21st, 2015 at Noon in the Recital Hall

This event is from the archives of The Notice Board. The event has already taken place and the information contained in this post may no longer be relevant or accurate.

Roy Caussy grew up in Hamilton, ON during the 1980s and 90s.  A few of his favourite facts about Hamilton are that: 1) Tim Horton’s opened its first location there.  2) Martin Short also grew up in Hamilton (and my grade 8 English teacher also taught Mr. Short).  3) The lead singer of The Cult (Ian Astbury) attended highschool in Hamilton for one year and credits that time, in which he was tormented and beat up constantly for being a weirdo, for setting him on the path of becoming a rockstar.  4) Hamilton had one of the original original six NHL teams before the Hamilton Tigers were bought and shipped to NY to become the New York Rangers.  5) Hamilton is the first place I ever fell in love.

Roy Caussy received his BFA from NSCAD University in 2006 and has exhibited across Canada, including exhibitions at The Art Gallery of Hamilton, The Surrey Art Gallery, The Centre for Contemporary Asian Arts, SAVAC, the Southern Alberta Art Gallery, and Eyelevel Gallery.  Caussy has also participated in numerous residency programs across Canada including The Banff Centre for the Arts, and has received funding from the City of Vancouver, The Ontario Arts Council, and The Canada Council for the Arts.  In 2015, Caussy received his MFA from the University of Lethbridge, where he currently resides.
