ART NOW - Moira McCaffrey Speaks March 2nd, 2015 at Noon in the Recital Hall

Moira McCaffrey is currently Executive Director of the Canadian Art Museum Directors Organization. From 2007 to 2012, she served as Vice President, Research & Collections, at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Prior to that, from 1999 to 2007, she was Director of Research & Exhibitions at the McCord Museum in Montreal, where she began her museum career in 1990 as a Curator of Ethnology & Archaeology. Moira has also worked as a consultant to museums, cultural institutions, and film companies. She has a BA in History from Concordia University, and an MA in Archaeology from McGill. She has directed archaeological projects in northern Quebec, western Labrador and on the Îles-de-la-Madeleine. She has served on the Cultural Properties Commission of Quebec and on the Board of the Virtual Museum of Canada. Moira has managed the production of over 80 exhibitions, as well as web sites and publications. She has personally curated numerous pioneering collaborative projects between museums and First Nations communities. She has published widely, and regularly presents papers in both scholarly and public forums.
