ART NOW - Crystal Mowry Speaks February 12th, 2016 at Noon in the Recital Hall

Crystal Mowry will speak about her experiences as a curator whose roots are in studio practice. Mowry will show examples of previous curatorial projects that reflect her ongoing interest in narrative and authenticity.

Crystal Mowry is Senior Curator at the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery (Canada). She has curated and organized over 50 exhibitions including The Terrarium Project (2006), The Limits (2011), Imitation of Life (2015), and solo projects with artists such as Brendan Fernandes, Janice Kerbel, Jon Sasaki and Kelly Richardson. In 2011 she received an Ontario Association of Art Galleries Exhibition of the Year Award for Ernest Daetwyler: Barn Raising [Reality in Reverse]. In 2013 she co-curated Romancing the Anthropocene, situated in Toronto’s financial district for Nuit Blanche. She was the Ontario representative for the 2015 Sobey Art Award curatorial panel.
