Jenna Stanton will be speaking on following her passion for Ceramics, the Arts and Creative Placemaking.  Jenna received her BFA in Ceramics at the Alberta College of Art & Design and her Masters in Ceramic Design from Staffordshire University in ‘the potteries’ of Stoke on Trent, England.  Currently working at Medalta potteries as the Curator of Collections and Exhibitions Jenna also creates out of  Medalta’s international artists in residence studios, she is interested in Creative Placemaking and the role of creating community and viable arts organizations.

Jenna received her BFA in Ceramics at the Alberta College of Art & Design in 2003 and her Masters in Ceramic Design from Staffordshire University in ‘the potteries’ of Stoke on Trent, England in 2012. 

Alongside her ceramics Jenna has developed a career in the Arts with a passion for business and Creative Placemaking though her work managing retail at Alberta Craft Council & living and working in Edmonton’s Arts Habitat.  After completing her Masters, she returned to her home province of Alberta where she

continues to advocate for craft artist and the importance of Creative Placemaking through her role as Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at Medalta, and as a member of the board of directors with the Alberta Craft Council.  

With a studio in Medalta’s international artists in residence, Jenna continues to explore ceramics that combine traditional craft with industrial processes and new technologies. Her designs are often influenced by vintage housewares, patterns and colours, and definitely by the 30 000 piece pottery collection and industrial ceramics history at Medalta. Her designs have been exhibited nationally and internationally, most notably in FRESH the 2011 British Ceramics Biennial’s flagship exhibition of top 40 emerging UK graduates, the London Design Festival, and Maison Object Paris.
