Dr. Dan Le ROY (Agricultural Studies Coordinator)  will be giving a seminar:

"The symbiosis of plants and fish: an economic analysis of aquaponic enterprise in Alberta"

on Friday, May 25 starting at 2:00 p.m. in Classroom B-650 in University Hall.

While it has been well established that aquaponics systems are technologically feasible (Savidov 2007, Love et al 2014, Tokunaga 2015), the economic viability of private enterprises is not well understood.  Aquaponics is a novel production technology that under some conditions may profitably satisfy wants of final consumers for locally sourced goods.  This research addresses the need for information among both potential and existing producers about the physical transformation of inputs to usable outputs, the associated costs and trade-offs and expected profit margins at various scales of production.

Everyone welcome.
