Program description

Demand is increasing for new media artists with expertise in business and management. This five-year combined degree bridges the gap between fine arts and management, giving you a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Design Animate Communicate Produce: New Media at uLethbridge

Through new media production and studies, you'll explore the interconnectivity between technology, art, culture and industry. Gain the skills necessary to evolve with emerging technologies in a variety of professional settings.

You'll explore, study, and create using a wide range of technologies and techniques with studies in graphic, web and interaction design, 3D modelling; animation, video game design and development, screenwriting, and new media theory.

Once you've developed a base in creative technology, you'll work toward a management degree majoring in marketing, informational technology, accounting, organizational behaviour, management policy, or human resources management.

Work-Integrated Learning
You have full access to co-operative education, international exchanges, independent and applied studies as well as volunteer opportunities. uLethbridge is the only university in Alberta to offer co-operative education to all majors, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Possible careers

New Media/Management graduates are highly adaptable in a variety of work environments and emerging technologies. You may go on to work in industries such as digital media production, communications, digital marketing, video game development, film and television, or the arts. Possible careers include:

Admission requirements

General-ALL-ALL

​For admission, Canadian high school students in Alberta must have completed five of the following courses with a minimum 65% average across them:

  • Physics 30
  • Science 30
  • Social Studies 30-1
  • Five credits in Advanced-level CTS Computer Science (CSE)
  • One or more distinct languages at the 30 level

  • Must be at the 30 level
  • Must be worth at least five credits (multiple courses worth a total of five or more credits can be used)
