Sage Mitchell has been playing the flute for over 15 years. She attended the music program at Keyano College in her hometown Fort McMurray, where she received a Certificate in Music Performance in 2011. While at the college, Sage enjoyed playing lead roles in many of the community and college bands. Later, she attended the University of Lethbridge, where she played in the U of L Wind Orchestra for over five years. During her time at the university, Sage has had many opportunities to perform in masterclasses and play in the U of L Wind Quintet. She is expected to receive her Bachelor of Music in flute performance from the University of Lethbridge in 2016.
Sage regularly teaches flute clinics for the U of L. She has also been an active member in the Lethbridge Gold Band, the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra, and the Medicine Hat Symphonic Society.
Sage has always had a passion for teaching. She has been the flute instructor at McGill Music and Arts School for over four years. In her experience with teaching private lessons, she has taught her students to have a strong foundation in music, and believes that it is important to encourage students to follow their passions in a positive and nurturing environment.
