Persistent Link Information for Elsevier Databases

Frequently Asked Questions

These instructions will create persistent links that work both on and off campus.

Instructions:

  1. Connect to any Elsevier database from the Library’s database page
  2. Conduct a search

    3.  From the search results list, click on the title, highlight the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) directly below the journal title

   4.  To convert a DOI to a URL, precede it with the following:

http://dx.doi.org/

For example: doi:10.1016/S1574-0021(05)02043-5  

Becomes:  http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/S1574-0021(05)02043-5

Now add the UofL Library's proxy to your permanent link.

For example:  http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/S1574-0021(05)02043-5

Becomes:  http://0-dx.doi.org.darius.uleth.ca/10.1016/S1574-0021(05)02043-5

    5.  Paste the DOI into your web document   

Note: Some databases may not offer persistent links.  For further information, contact your subject librarian or use our Ask Us service.

To ensure that you will always be able to find your online materials again, copy the complete citation below the URL. Make note of where the article was found. [Retrieved from database provider and database name].
