IT Services provides access to and assistance with video conferencing technologies.

This service includes the booking of rooms with existing (built-in) video conferencing capabilities, as well as the setup and configuration of portable video conferencing equipment in any of our standard classrooms or meeting rooms on campus. IT Services also provides recommendations of video conferencing equipment based on user needs as well as procurement support, setup and training. IT Services will meet with UofL Facilities regarding permanent installation of equipment if required.

WebEx can also be used for video conferencing, however is not always recommended for large groups of participants in one large room. Sometimes a high-end web camera may improve the video in a boardroom, for example, so that the attendee farthest away from the camera can still be seen clearly. It is most effective for individual participants dialing into the same meeting (desktop-to-desktop). More information and detailed instructions about WebEx can be found here.

What is the cost for this service?: 

There is no cost for IT Services booking/setup of existing video conferencing technologies or consulting on new video conferencing technologies. However, there is an installation charge from Facilities which will be quoted before installation takes place. Additionally, with some types of equipment there can be ongoing maintenance and support costs.
