Eduroam is a wireless service that provides students, staff and faculty from educational institutions secure access to the Internet while visiting other member institutions.

Users simply use the domain credentials of their home institution to access the service.

Note: The level of access and services provided may vary among institutions and is determined by the hosting school.

Eduroam provides the following services at the U of L:

  • HTTP
  • SSH
  • VPN

A fully qualified user name must be used for the Eduroam wireless network login. Please see example below.

Visiting Users

In most scenarios, accessing the UofL Eduroam service will be similar to how you access the wireless service at your home institution, with the exception that the SSID at the UofL is "eduroam."

If you experience a problem, you must contact the IT help desk of your home institution for assistance.

U of L Users

It is recommended that UofL users manually configure their wireless devices to connect to UofL Eduroam service prior to travelling.

  1. SSID = eduroam
  2. Username must match the format of the Eduroam user login example above.
  3. Wireless security settings
    • WPA2 enterprise with AES
    • PEAP
What is the cost for this service?: 

There is no cost for this service, as it is funded by the University.

When is this service available?: 

24 hours/day, 7 days/week, except when scheduled maintenance is being conducted.
