I need a username (Account Setup)

If this is the first time you are accessing the University of Lethbridge computer systems you will need to complete the account setup process which can be accessed using this link.  You will need to provide your 9 digit University of Lethbridge ID Number along with your date of birth to validate your identity.  You will then be taken through the account setup process.  Don't forget to register for password recovery (see below) once you have completed this activity to facilitate self service password management.

I forgot my username

If you forget your username for the University of Lethbridge systems, you can use the following link to recover it.  You will be asked to provide your 9 digit U of L ID number, your birthday, and your First, Middle (if provided), and Surname.  After completing the form you will be shown your username.

How do I reset my password

In an effort to give users the ability to manage their own accounts better, the University has created a self service password reset system.  This system requires that all users "Register" themselves and provide appropriate account recovery information so future requests can be handled automatically.  Depending on the type of user, the requirements are slightly different.

Step 1. Registration

All current users must register their password recovery options with Microsoft.  To do this one of two things will happen. When accessing the office 365 portal (https://office.com) you may be prompted to register for the service automatically. The user would see a screen similar to the one shown when they attempt to login.

By following the prompts, the user will be able to complete the password registration. Alternatively, the user can also trigger the registration process by following the procedure below.

  • Point your browser to: https://go.uleth.ca/passwordregister.
  • You will be asked to enter in your email address in the welcome screen and then be redirected to the University of Lethbridge login page where you enter your current password.
  • You may be asked if you wish to "Stay Signed In".  This is optional and up to the user to select yes or no.
  • Microsoft will then ask which recovery methods you would like to use.  You currently have 2 options (both can be selected):
    • Authentication Phone (a mobile device that can receive text messages)
    • Authentical Email (an external email address - not @uleth.ca)
  • Authentication Phone - will ask for your mobile device phone number and send a confirmation text with an access code.  Enter that code and your phone has been successfully registered.
  • Authentication Email - will ask for an external email address where it will send a code that needs to be confirmed.  Once confirmed, the address is registered.
  • Click Finish.

The video below will walk you through the process if you need additional assistance. Please note the links used in the video will go to the same place that the links on this page point to.

Step 2. Password Reset or unlock

To reset your password or unlock your account perform the following steps:

  • Point your browser to: https://go.uleth.ca/passwordreset.
  • Enter in your email address and fill in the CAPTCHA phrase at the bottom of the screen.
  • You will be prompted to select a recovery option, where a code will be sent (email or text).
  • Enter the code, and select a new password or to unlock your account.
  • Be sure to close your browser window when complete.
