- and genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, regulomics or glycomic (‘omics) technologies in and of themselves or which additionally support the innovation priority areas of Environment & Climate, Energy, Food & Agriculture, Fibre/Bioindustrial, and Health.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AND CANADIAN STUDENTS WHO DO NOT CURRENTLY HOLD AN NSERC AWARD
Master’s students are eligible for a maximum of two years of funding. If a candidate participated in a graduate program prior to commencing the GSS, (as determined by the registration date on their transcripts) the term of the scholarship will be reduced by one year for each academic year of participation prior to commencing the scholarship.
If a Master's student who holds an AI scholarship transfers to a doctoral program during the scholarship tenure, the term of the scholarship may be extended up to a maximum of four years. The total award term is dependent on the start date of the student's Master's program.
Doctoral students are eligible for a maximum of four years of funding. For each full year they have been in their graduate program (as determined by the registration date on their transcripts) prior to commencing the Alberta Innovates Graduate Student Scholarship award, the term of scholarship will be reduced by one year, including any time spent completing a Master’s degree.
NSERC and other MAJOR AWARD HOLDERS
- Canadian and permenant resident students holding an NSERC or other major external award are eligible to hold a GSS TOP UP valued at $12,000
