Craig Loewen completed his Bachelor of Education in Mathematics Education at the University of Lethbridge in 1984, and that fall began teaching high school mathematics, chemistry, and computing science in a small rural school near Camrose, Alberta. He attended the University of Alberta to complete his Master of Education degree in Secondary Mathematics and was hired to teach Mathematics Education at the University of Lethbridge upon completion of that degree. He returned to the University of Alberta to complete his doctorate in Secondary Mathematics Education and has now been with the University of Lethbridge in the Faculty of Education for 32 years. He has served in the roles of Assistant dean, Associate Dean, Acting Dean, Interim Dean and now Dean. In total, within the Dean's role, he has completed almost 10 years of service. Craig also serves as the chair of AADE (the Association of Alberta Deans of Education). He and his wife Sharon have three children (Sam, Kara and Tim), all of whom are also alumni of the University of Lethbridge.
