Undergraduate Degree: Bachelors of Health Sciences in Public Health
MSc Thesis Research: For my thesis I am analyzing the current state of sexually transmitted infections (STI) and the factors that play a role in the recent increase of STI rates we are witnessing. I will be conducting my thesis by using a mixed method approach, qualitative and quantitative. For guidance Dr. Em Pijl and Dr. Cheryl Currie is my supervisor and co-supervisor, respectively. Additionally I am volunteering with ARCHES Lethbridge where I do outreach work to promote safe drug use as well as safe sex. This enables me to gain valuable experience serving a vulnerable population as well as participating in harm reduction work for our community. In completing my thesis I will be looking at ways my research can benefit ARCHES Lethbridge and the people they serve.
Career Goals: Currently I am conducting a scoping literature review on safe consumption sites with Dr. Em Pijl and gaining valuable volunteer experience with ARCHES. Through my volunteer work and research experience I will be well equipped to enter the work force. My end career goal is to become a harm reduction program coordinator.
