Artist Trading Cards
Create, trade and collect miniature works of art this "swap" event. Draw, paint, collage- your imagination is the limit! The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5" x 3.5".
Creating in Clay
Let your fingertips explore the possibilities of form and surface in this hands-on clay workshop. Learn important terminology and fundamental techniques with this age-old natural art material and create a small, unfired object.
Drawing From the Avant-Garde
A fast and energetic speed round of spontaneous collborative art strategies used by avant-garde groups in the 20th century.The purpose of this workshop is to expose prospective students to art historical methods of image-production, and promote spontaneity and collaborating as generative approaches to learning and producing.
Drawing on Sound
Tune your ears, take a listening walk, and then create a unique visual score. Learn about how artists use translation from one sense to another to generate new forms.
Hess Art Gallery Tour
Take a tour of the current art exhibition. Tours will be led by gallery staff and current students and will include a visit to the art storage area for a discussion on care of collections.
In Camera: Portraiture from Pinhole to Digital Photography
An introduction to photo-arts and portraiture from the pinhole camera to large format digital photography. This workshop will look at the creation of portrait images and the evolution of photographic techniques in portraiture beginning with pinhole photography and moving forward to contemporary times with the use of large format digital equipment.
Linear Forms: Steel Rod Sculpture
Participate in the construction of a large steel sculpture. The techniques of bending, joining, and forming will be demonstrated.
Using traditional print techniques you process collaborative prints using inks, printing plates and presses that exert 10,000 pounds of pressure/square inch. This process is VERY hands-on.
This workshop provides an introduction to some of the materials, ideas and processes we use in our painting classes.

Thumb Casting in Plastic
Casting is a process used often in Art and industry to create multiples of complex 3 dimensional shapes with high detail. You will get an opportunity to make a small replica of your thumb in plastic by making a mould and pouring in a quick curing plastic. Take it out of the mould and take it home with you!

Triple Threat Workshop
The Triple Threat Workshop focuses on the development and integration of the three major facets of musical theatre: singing, acting, and dancing. We will be working on these skills separately and then combining them in a musical theatre style piece.
What is Devised Theatre?
This workshop will explore Devised Theatre - a popular approach to theatre making wherein the script usually originates from collaborative, often improvisatory work by a performing ensemble. The workshop will include a brief talk about various devising methods and companies and will include excerpts performed by students from the recent devised theatre adaptation Alice; inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass. (2018/2019 Season).
80 Years of Rock and Roll in 45 minutes
Come hear interesting facts and trivia about the music, videos, and artists that have made this wonderful art form so unique (and sometimes controversial). Selections from some of the most exciting music of the past 80 years will be picked apart and showcased much like in our History of Rock courses. You might know many of the songs, but the stories will surely surprise you!
