The University's second major capital project priority, the First Nations Gathering Centre, aims to provide a holistic atmosphere for all FNMI peoples, and the Lethbridge community.
It will be a place where students can meet with Elders, share stories, teaching and wisdom.
The Centre will also:
- Provide appropriate space for ceremonies, smudging, and celebrations.
- Foster appreciation and respect for FNMI heritage throughout the University and Southern Alberta.
- Promote cultural diversity and cultivate cross-cultural awareness and interaction.
- Offer referrals for Aboriginal programs, research, and student support services across campus.
