The 63rd Annual Meeting of the Western Division of the Canadian Association of Geographers (WDCAG) will be hosted by the Department of Geography & Environment at the University of Lethbridge (U of L) on March 5-6, 2021. Geographers from all fields of geography and related disciplines are invited to attend remotely.

Special Sessions
Borders and Migration

This session provides space for researchers focused on geographies of borders, migration, and displacement. We welcome proposals from a variety of research areas including but not limited to security and surveillance, health, policy, advocacy and social movements, and lived experiences. We are especially interested in papers that examine these questions in contexts of “crises” - e.g. pandemic, climate change, political and social unrest, economic downturns, etc.
Indigenous Perspectives

This session is for researchers who want to privilege Indigenous perspectives in geography and cognate disciplines. We welcome proposals from a variety of research areas including but not limited to policy, land-use and occupancy, health, rights, and lived experiences. We are especially interested in papers that examine these questions in the contexts of decolonization, of intersectionality, and of crises, such as the covid-19 pandemic, climate change, environmental degradation, and the rise of the extreme right.
Inuit Studies

This session is an opportunity to present research related to Inuit, the Indigenous people of the circumpolar north, and their territories (Inuit nunangat). Undergraduate students are particularly welcome in this session. We welcome abstracts from a variety of research areas including but not limited to Inuit policy, land-use and occupancy, housing, economies, climate change, and so on. Presenters may want to consider persistence and change in Inuit society, or challenges and Inuit advocacy and political aspirations.
