The University of Lethbridge Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry
Teaching Labs Old vs New
In April 2019, after labs were done, the move started from University Hall to the Science & Academic Building (SAB). The biggest change for the students are the teaching labs. In UHall the labs were old and the fume hoods were original the from when the labs were built. Four students shared each fume hood, which created safety hazards. Students put backpacks and coats all over the floors in the labs, as there was no storage nearby for them.
In SAB the labs are new and better equipped, so only 2 students share a fume hood! It will enable students to do their lab work faster and more safely. There are lockers nearby for student to store their backpacks and coats in, as none are allowed in the labs.

The old UG labs and fumehoods were the originals from when the labs were built!
The new labs are bright, more spacious and lots of fumehoods.
