Convocation Volunteers

Volunteer for a couple hours to welcome and congratulate the newest members of the Alumni Association. Volunteers are required to assist with parchment framing and student engagement on Saturday October 13, 2018.

Student Support and Alumni Engagement Committee Members

Get involved with the University of Lethbridge Alumni Association (ULAA) by volunteering with the Student Support and Alumni Engagement Committee!

What the committee does:

The role of the Student Support and Engagement Committee is to cultivate a culture of pride and community amongst alumni, undergraduate and graduate students through alumni driven events and initiatives.

The Student Support and Alumni Engagement Committee is responsible for:

  1. Developing an annual plan of activities/ initiatives that strengthen the relationship between students and alumni
  2. Working with Alumni Relations to carry out activities identified in the annual plan
  3. Working collaboratively with other ULAA committees to meet the strategic needs of the ULAA council
  4. Providing input and feedback on the student and alumni engagement strategies

What Student Support and Alumni Engagement Committee members will do this year:

  • On campus student engagement events
  • Acting as hosts at the Get LITerate senior student and young alumni event
  • Congratulating graduating students by providing them with free convocation photos
  • Collaborating with other committees to develop and run a grant program for groups requesting funds from the ULAA
  • Highlighting alumni and the great work they’re doing in their communities  
  • Seeking out opportunities to partner with existing events and initiatives

Meeting Schedule

Meetings will be held monthly during the academic year. Next meeting scheduled for March 26, 2018 at 6:00 PM

Parchment Frames and Fiat Lux Rings Committee Members

Get involved with the University of Lethbridge Alumni Association (ULAA) by volunteering with the Frames and Rings Committee!

What the committee does:

The role of the Frames and Rings Committee is to maximize revenue to support alumni initiatives and activities. The committee will also be responsible for building a cohesive brand of the rings and frames as a strategy towards cultivating a culture of alumni pride and engagement.

The Frames and Rings Committee is responsible for:

  1. Developing an annual plan to maximize sales of parchment frames
  2. Researching and developing a plan to build awareness and bring significance to the Fiat Lux Ring
  3. Organizing the sale of frames and rings during convocation ceremonies
  4. Development and maintenance of Fiat Lux Ring and parchment frame policies

What Frames and Rings Committee members will do this year:

  • Review and revise operational plans for ring and frames
  • Collaborate with engagement committee and Alumni Relations to incorporate the tradition of rings/frames in existing activities/initiatives
  • Recruit and organize volunteers for the sales of frames and rings at convocation

Recognition Committee Members

Get involved with the University of Lethbridge Alumni Association (ULAA) by volunteering with the Recognition Committee!

What the committee does:

The role of the Recognition Committee is to ensure that University of Lethbridge alumni are formally recognized for their outstanding achievements through the Alumni Achievement Awards.

The Recognition Committee is responsible for:

  1. Reviewing nominations and making recommendations to ULAA Council for award recipients
  2. Reviewing and making recommendations to ULAA Council for any revisions of the Alumni Achievement Awards program to ensure the processes meets best practices
  3. Providing leadership and resources to the ULAA Council to assist them in acting as ambassadors for the Alumni Achievement Awards program
  4. Working with Alumni Relations to plan and carry out Let There Be Light Night, the annual recognition event held in the Fall

What Recognition Committee members will do this year:

  • Review and Revision of Alumni Achievement Award program
  • Rollout revised Alumni Achievement Award Program
  • Review nominations and make recommendations to council
  • Recognize Recipients at Let There Be Light Night

Chapters and Networks Committee Members

Get involved with the University of Lethbridge Alumni Association (ULAA) by volunteering with the Chapters and Networks Committee!

What the committee does:

The role of the Chapters and Networks Committee is to act as a liaison and provide support to existing and emerging Chapters and Networks. The committee will be responsible for providing oversight and approval for all chapter and network funding.

The Chapters and Networks Committee is responsible for:

  1. Developing and regularly reviewing a toolkit to support Chapters and Networks
  2. Working with chapters and network to create plans and funding requests that would achieve the goals set out by the strategic alumni plan
  3. Reviewing and making recommendations to the ULAA council regarding Chapter/ network funding requests
  4. Providing oversight and accountability or funding requests
  5. Identifying and connecting with active networks

What Chapters and Networks Committee members will do this year:

  • Develop and rollout a Networks and Chapters Toolkit. This includes connecting with current chapters and other alumni groups to discuss the change in process and consult with them to ensure the program meets their needs
  • Collaborate with Engagement Committee to develop a grant (funding) program for Chapters and Networks funding requests
  • Review and approve chapters/ network funding requests based on plans that align with the Strategic Alumni Goals

The University of Lethbridge Alumni Association (ULAA) is putting out a call for applications for the following council positions: Treasurer, Secretary and Directors. The council works in partnership with Alumni Relations to connect alumni with each other and back to the University, to support students, and to celebrate and recognize the outstanding achievements of all alumni.
