EnergyBowl Business Case Competition

Join us now to test your skills in solving a real-life business case, in collaboration with Cenovus, and judged by a panel comprised of top consulting firms and industry experts! First place will win $2000!

The EnergyBowl is an international business case competition where student teams of four are challenged to think about the rapidly changing energy industry and possible solutions to address some of the most challenging issues that affect the whole world. Students will have to consider multiple facets such as political, economic, and societal factors while presenting their final solution.

The competition is designed in two phases:

Phase 1 – Preliminary Round: An electronic case will be sent to the participants who will have 72-hours to research and submit their presentation slide-decks.

Phase 2 – Grand Finale: The top-10 teams will have the opportunity to present their submissions either virtually or in-person to a panel of renowned judges comprised of top industry companies and consulting firms. The Grand Finale will be concluded with the Evening Banquet which will host over 150 students and over 100 energy professionals. The top-3 teams announced will be awarded cash prizes.

Alberta Yield - Ag & Food tech advisory program

If you are the founder or leader of an Alberta-based innovation-driven agricultural technology or agri-food venture seeking to establish your product or service, grow your business, increase your networks, and/or access investment, this program is right for you.

The program can help company leaders with customer development, market validation, increasing sales, refining business models, and improving investor readiness. Each participant will be paired with seasoned advisors to technology-based companies who will mentor and coach the founders/leaders through the program.

Join us now to test your coding and data analytics skills in solving a real-life case using actual data, and learn the current industry-sought analytics platforms from current industry professionals – a certificate will be given at the end to add to your resume!

The ASEC Hack-a-thon is a coding and data analytics competition where student teams of five are challenged to solve current industry cases in innovative ways, to address some of the most cutting-edge issues that affect the whole world. The competition will be judged by an industry panel comprised of top companies spearheading software current analytics innovations.

The competition has two components:

1.       A webinar series where top industry professionals offer a crash course on current coding and data visualization softwares, such as Python, R, and Spotfire.

2.       The competition where students must use their newly-learnt skills to solve a data visualization problem set out using actual collected real-life data.

Applications are open for the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS)

Canadian businesses, non-profit organizations, or charities who have seen a drop in revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic may be eligible for a subsidy to cover part of their commercial rent or property expenses, starting on September 27, 2020, until June 2021. This subsidy will provide payments directly to qualifying renters and property owners, without requiring the participation of landlords.

Entrepreneurship 101: Foundations Module
This 6-week program is designed to focus on the introductory fundamentals of designing and validating the value proposition for your business idea and explores how to build it out using the Business Model Canvas (BMC).

The video recordings of our Fall 2019 session provide entrepreneurs with the opportunity to harness their business idea in order to develop a working canvas that can serve as a living, breathing reference tool while building the approach towards full-scale operation.

The key takeaways for this course are: to guide entrepreneurs towards appropriate market validation of your idea; and to gain the understanding to have it built and eventually be mapped into a robust business plan.
