Now you see I would say, there is a tradition of excellence in this University that’s founded on collaboration, that’s founded on genuine, genuine passion and curiosity about knowledge and about furthering knowledge, that’s founded on a sense of equality that students are a part of who we are.  That teaching isn’t this thing you have to do when you’re not doing research.  That teaching, research, working with students all comes together ... there’s that tradition.  That’s why I wanted to become Dean because I loved that.  And I thought, whatever I can do to keep that going and further, then I must do.  And I think we did but I would say it’s a ‘we’ ... it wasn’t me.  It was the people I had here who worked with me and were prepared to bring it in the most extraordinary directions.
