I-HEARD
(Immersive Hybrid Environments for Architectural Research and Design)

Principal Investigator:
Daniela Sirbu
Associate Professor
Department of New Media
Faculty of Fine Arts

The notion of Hybrid Environment, as defined for the purpose of this project, concerns the integration of previously accumulated tacit and explicit knowledge with a computer-generated environment. The individual researcher/ designer is the active interface between the knowledge space and the virtual space and has the role to analyze and interpret the visualization and find solutions to a given problem. Solutions for architectural design and digital reconstructions of past architecture can be iteratively improved through repeated analysis of visualizations and their progressively modified forms.

MARVIS
(Motion Analysis and Representation in Interactive Environments)

Principal Investigator:
Daniela Sirbu
Associate Professor
Department of New Media
Faculty of Fine Arts

The main area of interest is related to realistic representation of human and object motion in virtual interactive environments. The main goal is to synthesize methods and strategies to facilitate the natural integration of the human being in 3D artificial worlds by populating the digital environments with realistic avatars and objects that move and interact with the user in a believable naturalistic manner.
