The University Scholars Program

The Board of Governors established the University Scholars Program in 2007 to recognize the excellence of faculty members in the areas of research, scholarship and creative performance. In continuation of this program, the Office of the Vice-President Research invites applications for the 2014 University Scholar appointments from faculty members in the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Fine Arts, or the Faculty Arts & Science (discipline: Social Sciences1).  One University Scholar appointment will be made in each Faculty.

The University Scholars program recognizes and promotes research excellence across all Faculties within the University of Lethbridge.  The award is intended to provide support for on-going research activities and develop capacity beyond the term of the award.  This award is not intended to be an end-of-career recognition.

The Board of Governors provides University Scholars with a research grant totaling $5,000 over the three years of the designation, in addition to $1,500 over three years that may be used towards conference travel, conference registration, speaking and/or performance engagement expenses, or other dissemination activities. One course relief in teaching duty will be granted in each year of an appointment. Each University Scholar must give a public lecture or performance as part of the University Scholars Series at the University of Lethbridge during the final year of their designation as a University Scholar.
