The Office of the Vice-President (Research) provides the overall leadership for the strategic development of research at the U of L. This involves:
- Providing operational management and leadership in the development and promotion of research, scholarly and creative activities, and innovation. This involves mapping the focus, infrastructure and capability to improve research performance and intensity at the University.
- Soliciting new funding opportunities and maximizing the external resources that can be attracted to the University in support of its research programs. All of these activities are in support of facilitating the University’s long-term planning and relations with external agencies and partners.
- Advancing the research portfolio of the University through the development of research centers and institutes. This includes establishing strategies, and policies where needed, to enhance the profile of the centres/institutes across campus and to the broader provincial, national and international communities.
- Developing, coordinating, and managing large institutional projects and programs funded by federal and provincial agencies.
The development and fostering of Vice-President (Research) portfolio requires working closely with other units across campus as well as external stakeholders.
